The lid is also beautifully proportioned to the base. Measures 18" in length, 11 1/2" in height and over 5 1/4" in width. Has an incredible presence ! Van Joseph is a member of the Squamish Nation. He was born in 1964 in New Westminster and grew up in Surrey and North Vancouver, British Columbia. When Van moved to North Vancouver at the age of fifteen he was inspired by Squamish Nation Artists and began to carve under Marvin Baker, later being taught by Floyd Joseph and Paul Joseph. He mainly concentrats on his wood carvings but has also done paintings and carvings in argillite. His works include masks, totem poles, bowls and plaques.
